Field trip to ' The National Zoological Park.'

The students of grade 3 were thrilled as they explored the 'National Zoological Park in Delhi on the 19th of Oct 2011. This trip was planned as an aid and precursor to their unit on on the TD Theme' How the World Works.' The objective behind this trip was to make the students understand how a certain flora and fauna can grow and survive in an artificial habitat.

The students were very excited when they reached the reptile house and were amazed to see the huge size of the pythons there. The star turtle and mouse snake also attracted their attention. The white Bengal tiger looked elegant in its white and black stripes. The cheetah and leopard took a nice doze and ignored us when we went o meet them!!

The parakeet and  Macau were colourful and were appreciated for its beauty.
The elephants were seen dancing and the monkeys ran here and there. Guess they feared we would harm them.

But we came back home happy and contended.

Action in 3z

In the PYP, it is believed that education must extend beyond the intellectual to include not only socially responsible attitudes but also thoughtful and appropriate action.
Action in the PYP can also be deciding not to act, for example if during a unit on health a student realizes that a can of Coke with dinner is not the best choice and they opt for milk instead.
The Action Cycle of the Primary Years Programme
Action Cycle
The action cycle is the simple yet powerful tool used to teach children how to take action. By going through the three steps of choosing, acting and then reflecting back upon the results of their choice, students are able to grow socially and personally, developing skills such as cooperation, problem solving, conflict resolution and critical thinking. This is an important part of student's participation in their own learning.
